Scanning the computer
Previous  Top  Next

To scan your (local) computer for missing and installed patches, select the File | New scan menu item, or press New scan button on tool bar, then select the Scan only local computer option to scan your local computer only (where PSA is running).

To scan the computers in your local network, select the same menu item (or tool bar button), but Scan following computers options. Here you can browse for computers in Microsoft Windows Network and select all ones that have to be scanned. If you select the workgroup or domain, all computers from this group/domain will be selected automatically (but you can exclude some of them manually). You can also select the computers from different domains.

Note, however, that in order to scan the remote computer, you should have local administrator privileges there. So it is recommended to run PSA from domain administrator's account; otherwise, you will be prompted for proper credentials.

Once scanning the local and/or remote computer(s) is completed, you can see the result in the main program window. Left pane is organized as a tree, and once the particular scan is selected, the right pane contains all the details on what patches are missing or installed: see see View modes and filters for details.

You can also delete any given scan from the program database by selecting File | Delete selected menu item, or by pressing Delete button on the tool bar.
