| While you are on an active branch of the tree in the main window you can compare it with other objects by using the Compare button |
| By selecting the item "First node" all possible variants of comparison are automatically placed into the "Second node" field list.
| You can place a new key into "First node" (without closing the window for any other available active key) by using the button "Insert Selected Key"
| In Comparison Mode as well as in Scan Mode you can use filters by check marking "Use filter". In the field you can select from available filters or change or create a new filter by using the filter editor ("Edit filter..."). See Filters.
| By using a filter on comparison results you will get only those keys you are interested in. It is particularly useful if you want to use the comparison results as a basis for the Undo or Redo functions.

| ART compares the following objects:
| Two active snapshotsto compare two entire registry snapshots or to compare one path of a snapshot with another path.
| A selected node compared to the current registry stateto compare a specific key of an earlier snapshot with the same key of the current registry. A new scanning takes place with the creation of a snapshot of this key and then the key is compared to the same key in the earlier snapshot. If there are no differences and you don't need to store the newly scanned key, you can delete it. See Deleting snapshots.

| A selected node can be compared to a user-specified nodethese are different keys (with different paths) both from one registry snapshot or each from different snapshots. In the "Second node" select from the drop down choices Choose specified node using "Insert Selected Key" and then click the button |
| This kind of comparison is useful to compare keys that are similar in structure but have different names or paths. An example: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT and HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18. This type of comparison is possible to do in one snapshot or with different snapshots. Filters in this mode are unavailable.
| If a key from the Tweaks area is placed in "First node", comparison is possible only by using the filter "Filtered by first node". The other object to be compared is placed in "Second node". This can be from either the current registry or a previous snapshot of the registry that was made when comparing the same tweak.
| (All possible snapshots are placed automatically in the "Second node" pull down list.)
| The filter item "Filtered by first node" is created automatically depending on what is placed in "First node" using the following rules: branches that contain non-empty lists of values are marked as 'include'.
| You can use this filter not only with tweaks but with other snapshots as well if you need only keys that exist in whatever is selected in "First node". The button "Edit filter..." is not available when selecting this filter.

| Click the Advanced button in the Comparison window to open the Comparison tab in the Settings window.
| Case sensitive Select this to compare the names of keys and their values exactly as they are written so that "Word" shows as different from "word". This greatly reduces the length of time to do a comparison. However, Windows does not differentiate between two names or values that are spelled the same irrespective of the case of their letters (to Windows "word" is the same as "WORD").
| Open selected key in other tree This opens the same key in both tabs in the results window when switching between tabs.
| Show folder icon at tree node This displays each node as a folder in the results window.
| Enable "Redo into Registry!" button Because the "Redo into Registry!" |
| Date from OLD source | Date from NEW source defines which date of change is to be assigned to a key (as a result of comparison) if the key exists in both the first and second node.
