| 1 You can use ART to find out what keys in the Registry are responsible for certain settings of the system or a program. To do this, first create a snapshot of the Registry before changing any settings and then again after the changes and then compare the two snapshots.

| 2 If you have problems with a program that uses the Registry to save its settings, you can solve these with ART.
|
| Method 1 (most reliable): You need two snapshots of the Registry (it is assumed that the Registry snapshots are saved in one file). One snapshot is created before installing the program (referred to as the Old snapshot) and the other created after installing and configuring the program (the New snapshot). Should any problems occur while the program in question is operating, you can restore the settings the Registry had immediately after that program's installation. To do this, compare the Old and the New snapshots and make a Redo from the Comparison window.
|
| Method 2 : You need a snapshot of the Registry created when the program worked properly (Old). When a problem occurs, create a New snapshot of the Registry and then find what keys are related to the program (a keyword search might be helpful with this). Then highlight the appropriate part of the Registry (the key) and, with the help of the List of Exclusion, compare the New and the Old snapshots' keys related to the program. Make an "Undo" from the Comparison window. This method of comparing is helpful when there are not many differences between the snapshots.

| 3 The function of generating *.REG files based on revealed differences might prove helpful when you install the same software on many PC's. Make a Registry snapshot before installing the software on one machine and another snapshot after the installation. Compare the snapshots and generate a *.REG file of the differences from the Comparison results window. Now you can install this *.REG file on the other machines and copy the necessary files to complete the installation of that software on every machine.

| 4 You can compare standard REG files using the import feature.

| 5 You can safely experiment with registry Tweaks.
